Hey David, I've been following Bryan Johnson for some time, and your article really got me thinking about the whole pursuit of perfection in life. It seems like finding that sweet spot between aiming for excellence and embracing imperfection is key, taking into account individual preferences and situations. But I've been wondering, how can someone actually figure out and put into practice this balanced and flexible approach in their personal and professional life? It sounds like the answer might vary from person to person and across different areas of life, doesn't it?
Striking that balance is super difficult and takes some real honest introspection and self examination I think. I certainly think it varies person to person and within people in different areas of their life. I think broadly the question is where do you sit personality wise, which may give insight eg I am a Type A and thus less rigidity is a good rule of thumb for me but that may be different for someone else and certainly depends on different areas (eg more discipline with things like meditation would help me whereas less in other areas is probably helpful).
One thing that struck me is that concept that not everything that we measure may matter and not everything that matters is measurable. Certainly something like HRV, given it's all encompassing nature may be helpful but that very nature means that it is not particularly sensitive to small changes given the noise of data inputs to it. I have found apps like Nof1+ and Cambrean to help on a multi-variate analysis front - similarly Whoop's journal does similar stuff so you can make tags and track things but it's not an easy quest that's for sure.

Hi Marius,
Striking that balance is super difficult and takes some real honest introspection and self examination I think.
